Hotel del Coronado (also known as The Del or Hotel Del) is situated along 28 oceanfront acres on Coronado Island, just across the bay from San Diego. It is one of the few surviving examples of an American architectural genre: the wooden Victorian beach resort. Built in 1888 and designated a National Historic Landmark in 1977, the Hotel del Coronado remains the second-largest wooden structure in the United States and has hosted many presidents, royalty, and celebrities throughout the years. This full-service property offers stunning views of the Pacific Ocean and the Del Gardens. It also offers several restaurants ranging from a grab-and-go deli to elegant dining. There are many options for recreation including boating, bicycling, surfing, and nearby golf. Guest rooms are just steps away from the beach and offer 24-hour room service and newspaper delivery. Retired President Eligibility CIC welcomes retired presidents who wish to participate in the Presidents Institute and remain involved in discussions of professional matters with former colleagues. Having retired presidents at the Institute is of value to current presidents, especially those who are relatively new to their positions, as an additional source of welcome advice from more experienced colleagues. Retired presidents who are working for a sponsoring firm should participate in the Presidents Institute as one of the firm’s representatives, not as a retired president. Retired presidents who work for a firm that is eligible to be a sponsor but is not should not participate in the Institute. Questions about eligibility to register as a retired president should be directed to Barbara Hetrick, CIC senior vice president, at email@example.com or (202) 466-7230.
