The 2015 CIC Institute for Chief Academic and Chief Advancement Officers brings together these two key senior administrators to explore their respective roles and responsibilities. Although both officers contribute to the fulfillment of the campus mission to provide a high-quality education and experience for all students at the institution, the priorities of these administrators are quite distinct. The chief academic officer’s focus is on maximizing opportunities for student learning; the chief advancement officer’s role is to maximize the financial resources available to provide a competitive learning and living environment. To understand each other’s values and priorities and to cooperate effectively requires seamless communication between the CAO and the CAdO. (Read more.)
