Connecting across New Media Lines: Gaining Access,Making News Conference • June 26–27, 2014 Friday, June 27 9:15–11:00 a.m. MEET THE HIGHER EDUCATION PRESS—CONCURRENT SESSIONS (Each session is offered twice with a beverage break in the middle at 10:00–10:15 a.m.) These concurrent sessions provide participants opportunities to engage in discussion of higher education issues and to become more familiar with the nation’s premier higher education trade publications and the journalists who cover college and university campuses. Meet Inside Higher Ed Scott Jaschik and Doug Lederman, editors and founders of Inside Higher Ed, lead a team of reporters and editors who will exchange ideas with conference participants. Inside Higher Ed is a national daily online publication about higher education that attracts more than 2 million monthly page views. Conversing with the Chronicle Several Chronicle reporters and editors, led by editor Liz McMillen, will conduct in-depth, informal conversations with participants in a roundtable format. This session is designed to enable participants to get to know reporters, hear about higher education topics and ideas that Chronicle reporters intend to cover in the near term, and pitch story ideas directly. Liz McMillen, on the staff at the Chronicle since 1984, was named editor in August 2011. Previously, she was editor of the Chronicle Review, the weekly magazine of ideas in print. She directs more than 70 editors and reporters who write about higher education.
