Sophomore to Junior Year Retention

Monday, November 4
2:00–5:00 p.m.

(Pre-registration required)

A disturbing development on many campuses is the significant number of rising juniors who transfer to other institutions. CAOs and CSAOs will gain a deeper understanding from this workshop of the issues faced by sophomores as they make the decision to continue—or not—for the last two years of college. Why do students transfer? What types of interventions are most effective in preventing students from transferring? How can senior administrators work together to support students in this transitional year?

Laurie A. Schreiner, Professor and Chair, Doctoral Programs in Higher Education, Azusa Pacific University
Mike Segawa, Vice President for Student Affairs and Dean of Students, University of Puget Sound
Chair: Jeffery Aper, Provost, Blackburn College
