Sources of Support for Independent Colleges and Universities

Open only to CIC Institutional Member presidents. Registration is required.

This meeting provides an occasion for CIC college and university presidents from across the nation to engage in candid conversation with senior foundation officers. In 2012 the Conversation will include six distinct sessions, with generous amounts of time for discussion during each session as well as informal networking opportunities between sessions. In our experience, the presidents of colleges and universities are better equipped to guide both academic affairs and development offices in making thoughtful approaches to foundations when they think about the hard issues well before a particular grant idea surfaces. This annual discussion is CIC's contribution to nurturing those habits of thought at the leadership level.

The 2012 Foundation Conversation will feature the following presenters, followed by small group discussions with most of the presenters.

  • Stephanie Bell-Rose, TIAA-CREF Managing Director and Head, TIAA-CREF Institute
  • Michele Cahill, Vice President, National Program, and Director, Urban Education, Carnegie Corporation of New York
  • Dan E. Davidson, President, American Councils for International Education
  • Michael Gilligan, President, Henry Luce Foundation
  • Adam Meyerson, President, The Philanthropy Roundtable
  • Joan Ferrini-Mundy, Assistant Director for Education and Human Resources, National Science Foundation
  • William Craig Rice, Director, Division of Education Programs, National Endowment for the Humanities
