Third- and Fourth-Year CAO Workshop

Workshop for CAOs in their Third or Fourth Year of Service
Saturday, November 5, 8:00 a.m.–4:00 p.m.
Entering the third or fourth year of service, CAOs have usually mastered the fundamentals of the role and found a measure of ease in their work. At this stage, CAOs will have greater opportunities to lead rather than simply manage. What are the key questions CAOs should be addressing at this stage in their work? For example, how do CAOs balance attention to their institutions’ urgent issues with long-term strategic academic issues? How do CAOs take care of their own professional lives while also taking care of their institutions? How do CAOs help to develop a strategic academic vision for their institutions? Participants will explore these questions, so that by the end of the workshop they will have developed new perspectives about the next stage in their careers as CAOs.
