Change in Tuition and Fees over Time

The published tuition and fee price at public four-year institutions in 2020–2021 is 2.76 times as high as it was in 1990–1991 after adjusting for increases in the Consumer Price Index; the private four-year published tuition and fee price, by contrast, is 2.10 times as high as it was in 1990–1991.
