Community College Transfer Project

About the Project

In March 2013, the Kresge Foundation awarded CIC a grant in the amount of $150,000 to develop a national initiative to increase the number of community college graduates who transfer to private four-year colleges and universities and to assure the students’ academic success once they transfer. The aim is to improve both the transfer experience and baccalaureate attainment rates of the students and to promote public policies that encourage transfers from community colleges to private institutions.

Current Status

A planning meeting to advance this project was held in Alexandria, Virginia, on March 21–22, 2014. The invited participants included leaders of two-year and four-year colleges, researchers and policy analysts, and heads of consortia and associations that are actively engaged in transfer and degree-completion efforts.
