With the theme “New Realities in Higher Education,” the 2021 CIC State Councils Annual Conference will take place as a virtual event, April 26–27. In addition to presentations by major conference speakers, State Council executives and staff will present examples of successful programs and best practices that advance independent higher education in their states.

The conference will provide state executives, fundraising officers, and communications staff with valuable program sessions on a wide range of topics, including:

  • Smart Classrooms for Student Success;
  • Marketing for Sustainable Engagement;
  • Strategic Board Development;
  • Strengthening Relationships through Better Stewardship; and
  • New Approaches to Communications and Influence.

In addition, deep-dive roundtable sessions and sponsor showcases will provide lively networking opportunities during the conference.

Steven Butschi headshotThe keynote presentation will be delivered by Steven Butschi, who leads the Google Cloud Education team that works with school districts, colleges and universities, and education technology companies to adopt cloud computing products, such as the Google Cloud Platform. During his ten years at Google, he has helped universities migrate to G Suite for Education, worked on the launch team for Chromebooks, and initiated efforts to bring Google Cloud Platform to researchers and universities.

Other guests featured on the program include Ted Eismeier, vice president of Whiteboard Advisors; Kai Drekmeier, founder and president of InsideTrack; and Nance Roy, chief clinical officer of the Jed Foundation.

Along with State Council executives, fundraising officers, and communications staff, State Council board members also are welcome to participate in the conference and should coordinate their interest with the chief executive of their state organization. This year, CIC will offer registration discounts to encourage team participation. Registration will open in early March.
