Support to Thrive Socially

Students who attend private colleges and universities are more likely to say that their campus provides them with support to thrive socially than students at public institutions. A majority of first-year students who attend non-doctoral private colleges (“non-doctoral” meaning colleges that don’t offer PhD programs) reported that their school emphasized social support, while less than half of first-year students at non-doctoral public colleges said the same.
