A recent evaluation of the Teacher Education Accreditation Council (TEAC) gave the Council high marks for its work in improving academic degree programs for professional educators and assuring the public about the quality of these professional programs. CIC, which was instrumental in the founding of TEAC, received a grant in 1998 from the Fund for the Improvement of Postsecondary Education to support an evaluation of the pilot phase of TEAC. Peter Ewell, a senior associate with the National Center for Higher Education Management Systems (NCHEMS), conducted the evaluation and concluded that the approach to teacher preparation that TEAC is promoting is seen as having great value.
