IntroductionAt its essence, CIC is a national network of the people who lead and staff private colleges and universities. As a free service, CIC sponsors a number of listservs—Internet discussion groups—for various campus constituencies. All of the listservs are reserved exclusively for staff from CIC member institutions. The listservs provide an electronic means to extend the networking and idea-sharing that is the core of our work and mission. A roster of current listservs is found below. If you qualify for a CIC listserv and wish to join the discussion, send your request in an e-mail (be sure to include your name, title, and institution) to cic@cic.nche.edu. Your name will be added to the appropriate listserv, and you can expect to receive an e-mail confirmation. Current CIC listservs and membership requirements

How do I subscribe or unsubscribe from a listserv?
Send a message to cic@cic.nche.edu
including the name of the listserv, your name, institution, and position.
Be sure to first check eligibility requirements for each listserv—membership
on each list has certain restrictions.
How do I send a message to the listserv?
Once you are a member of the list, you can send your message to the address
of the list.

How do I reply to an individual who sent a message and not the whole
group?
To reply to a message sender, do not hit the "reply" button.
This will send your message to the entire list. Instead, type the person's
e-mail address in the "to" field.
Can my administrative assistant or staff person post a message to
the group?
Only list members can post a message to a group.
Is there an archive of listserv messages?
Yes, archives are available for presidents
and chief academic
officers. To recieve instruction on accessing the archives, please
email cic@cic.nche.edu.
How can I find out who is on the listserv?
To get a list of all the members subscribed to the listserv (e-mail addresses
and some names), send a message to Majordomo@lists.starship.net
and put who [name list] in the body of the message. For example, if you
wanted to know what deans are on the deans list, put "who cicdean-list"
in the body of the message.
My e-mail address changed. How do I let the listserv know?
If your e-mail address ever changes, however slightly, please let us know
and we will ensure you will be able to continue using this service. Give
us a call at (202) 466-7230 or send an e-mail message to cic@cic.nche.edu.
You will need to tell us your old e-mail address, new e-mail address,
name, institution, and the list that you are subscribed to.
What is considered inappropriate use of the list?
Messages posted on the listservs should be limited to discussion of specific
questions. Inappropriate use of the list includes sending unsolicited
bulk mail (also known as spam) and sending general announcements of events,
job vacancies, notices, and other general appeals. Inappropriate use also
includes harassing or embarrassing messages, sexually explicit images
or content; racially, ethnically or otherwise offensive material; and
messages that violate any applicable local, state, national or international
laws. If e-mail of this nature is sent to the group, the sender will be
removed from the list.
If you need any other assistance, please e-mail cic@cic.nche.edu or call CIC at (202) 466-7230.
