Questions & CommentsCIC/New York Times Partnership

The CIC/New York Times Partnership provides discounted subscriptions, advertising rates, and rights and permissions site licenses for the Times archives, among other benefits, to participating CIC members. Nearly 50 CIC members participate in the Partnership, and CIC colleges and universities can join the Partnership at any time. The minimum obligation for a college to be considered a partner is a discounted subscription to the Times newspaper based on FTE enrollment

Benefits of the Partnership (in addition to discounted subscriptions) include:

  • Student News Editors Workshop (2010 Workshop scheduled for April 19)
  • Automatic membership in the Presidents Council, which meets annually at the Times offices and includes meetings with Times editors and correspondents
  • Enrollment in the Speaker Series, which gives preference to Partners in securing reporters and editors from the Times for speaking engagements on campus
  • Discounted rights and permissions site license (45 cents per student)
  • Education rate for advertising (typically a 60 percent discount)
  • On-campus programs and events sponsored by the Times
  • Help in developing coursepacks and educational material using current Times content for classroom use
  • Publicity for the Partnership on the Times college website (www.nytimes.com/edu)

Participants each year travel to the New York Times in New York City to meet with editors and reporters.
