Symposium on Business and the Liberal Arts

With support from the James S. Kemper Foundation, CIC held "Business and the Liberal Arts: Integrating Professional and Liberal Education," a symposium on the relationship of the liberal arts to business on May 3-5, 2007 in Chicago, IL. The goal of the symposium was to identify best practices among CIC member institutions in programs that combine a sound liberal arts education with preparation for careers in business.

 Final Status

Faculty members from 24 institutions participated in the symposium, held on May 3-5, 2007. The symposium was the second in a series convened by CIC with generous support from the James S. Kemper Foundation. More details and lessons learned can be found in the 2007 symposium report, "Business and the Liberal Arts: Integrating Professional and Liberal Education."

The first business and liberal arts symposium was held in November 2003 on the campus of Elmhurst College (IL). Discussion and outcomes from the symposium were published in a 2004 publication, Report of a Symposium on the Liberal Arts and Business.
