Ancient Greece in the Modern College Classroom

In July 2013 the Center for Hellenic Studies and CIC will cosponsor a seminar on the Iliad for faculty members in all fields. The seminar, designed for non-specialists, will be lead by Gregory Nagy, Francis Jones Professor of Classical Greek Literature and professor of Comparative Literature at Harvard University, and Kenneth Scott Morrell, associate professor and chair of Greek and Roman Studies at Rhodes College. The seminar is made possible through the generous support of the Andrew W. Mellon Foundation.

 

 Current Status

 
Up to 18 faculty members will be selected to participate. Faculty members who wish to participate must be nominated by the chief academic officer of the nominee's institution.
 

 DATE AND LOCATION

 
The seminar will take place July 23-27, 2013 at the Center for Hellenic Studies in Washington, DC.
 

 Costs

 
​There is no fee to participate. Lodging, meals, and seminar materials will be covered. Participants or their institutions will be expected to provide transportation to and from Washington, DC, however CIC will reimburse up to $200 in travel expenses following the seminar.
