Students from racial and ethnic minority backgrounds enroll at private institutions at rates comparable to public institutions (29 percent vs. 28 percent).

Fact 2 - Students of Color Graduation Rates
Students of all racial and ethnic backgrounds complete their degrees more quickly at independent colleges and universities than at state four-year colleges. For example, Hispanic students have a 76 percent four-year graduation rate at independent colleges, but only a 39 percent rate at state four-year colleges and universities.

Ohio’s independent colleges and universities register 29 percent of all students of color who are enrolled in four-year degree programs in the state, yet they award 35 percent of all degrees earned by students of color.
