2008 Transformation of the College
Library Workshop
March 27-29: Baltimore, MD
This will be the last in a series of highly successful workshops that
began in 2002 to strengthen the contribution of libraries to teaching
and learning. The workshops have focused on the dramatic changes now occurring
in college libraries and have been intended to help small and mid-sized
colleges and universities deal successfully with those changes.

Workshop

The Learning Spaces and Technology Workshop is designed to help colleges
and universities plan for effective technology-enhanced learning spaces.
2008 Workshops for Department
and Division Chairs
April 4-5: Portland, OR
May 20-22: Atlanta, GA
May 28-30: Chicago, IL
June 3-5: Albany, NY
To assist independent colleges and universities in strengthening leadership
at the department level, these workshops are offered to experienced, as
well as new, department/division chairs. The workshops focus on the distinctive
challenges of department leadership in small and mid-sized, private colleges
and universities.

CIC/Gilder Lehrman American History Seminar
June 15-18: New Haven, CT
This intensive four-day seminar offers a unique opportunity for faculty
members in history and related fields to debate a prominent American history
topic with experts and colleagues.
2008 Network
for Effective Language Learning (NELL) Summer Meeting
July 7-11, 2008: Tacoma, WA
Institutions participating in the 2008 Network will each send a four-person
team to this summer meeting to develop innovative approaches to foreign
language learning.

Presidential Vocation and Institutional Mission Seminar
Presidents Program
July 13-16, 2008: Bradford, PA
(Follow-up January 7-8, 2009, Bonita Springs, FL)
This program consists of a series of conversations among college and university
presidents—and their spouses—designed to help each think more
deeply about the significance of mission in the institutions they lead,
their own sense of vocation or calling, and how the connection between
their personal vocation and the institution's mission fosters effective
presidential leadership.

Ancient Greece in the Modern College Classroom Seminar
July 14-18: Washington, DC
Designed primarily for those who have not had formal training
in ancient Greek literature, this five-day seminar will offer faculty
members an opportunity to extend their knowledge of ancient sources and
develop strategies for incorporating them into their courses.
2008 Collegiate
Learning Assessment (CLA) Consortium Summer Meeting
August 3-5, 2008: Washington, DC
This annual meeting of CLA Consortium members has convened each summer
since 2005 in Washington, DC, during which participants evaluate and discuss
key issues of the CLA project.
2008 Data and Decisions Workshop
October 2-4: Farmington, CT
The workshop assists college and university leaders in making strategic
decisions based on data-targeted information about their own institutions
and up-to-date information about peer institutions.
