CIC's Institute for Chief Academic Officers and Chief Financial Officers brings CAOs and CFOs of independent colleges and universities together for networking, problem-solving, and sharing of ideas. The conference includes a variety of sessions and workshops, as well as special programming for new CAOs and CAOs in their third and fourth year.

About the Theme: "The CAO-CFO Partnership: Blending Perspectives to Build Stronger Institutions"

In times of economic uncertainty and tight budgets it is essential that chief academic officers (CAOs) and chief financial officers (CFOs) work together to strengthen their institutions and to maximize opportunities for students to pursue their degree programs and graduate in a timely manner. Learning to value each other’s perspective on campus priorities and to understand each other’s approach to resource allocation depends on clear and frequent communication between the CAO and the CFO. A shared vision, a collaborative spirit, and mutual respect are necessary if the institution is to thrive in a volatile period and address key issues such as: the improvement of existing programs and development of new ones, planning new facilities, reallocation of resources, using assessment results to set new program directions, investment in faculty development, and maintenance of competitive salaries for faculty and staff members. The conference provides a framework for reflection on issues of mutual concern and for candid exploration of topics through sessions, discussion groups, workshops, and informal meetings.      > View the Preliminary Program
