2010 New Presidents Program
January 3-4: Marco Island, FL
If you are newly appointed to the president's role, you'll want to
join your colleagues for a day-and-a-half program just for new college
leaders. You'll learn the ins and outs of a wide range of presidential
issues, all from the perspective of experienced presidents and other experts.
2010 Presidents Institute
January 4-7: Marco Island, FL
The Presidents Institute is an annually held meeting for presidents of
independent colleges and universities that includes a day-and-a-half program
for new presidents.
2010 Islam and Middle Eastern Culture Seminar
January 3-19: Amman, Jordan
This seminar in Amman, Jordan is designed for full-time faculty members in all fields at CIC member institutions to learn more about the Middle East, Islam, and Middle Eastern culture.
2010 Information Fluency Workshop
March 4-6: New Orleans, LA
The Information Fluency in the Disciplines Workshop is intended to help institutions move beyond information literacy in general education to information fluency in humanities majors.
2010 New York Times Student News Editors Workshop
April 19: New York, NY
The annual Student
News Editors Workshop allows student news editors to spend a day at the New York Times exploring the role of a newspaper in society,
meeting with Times correspondents and editors, and developing
their journalistic skills.
2010 Department and Division Chair Workshops
April 8-10: Raleigh, NC
May 25-27: Cincinnati, OH
June 2-4: St. Paul, MN
June 8-10: San Francisco, CA
To assist independent colleges and universities in strengthening leadership
at the department level, these workshops are offered to experienced, as
well as new, department/division chairs. The workshops focus on the distinctive
challenges of department leadership in small and mid-sized, private colleges
and universities.

CIC/Gilder Lehrman American History Seminar
June 13-16: New Haven, CT
This intensive four-day seminar offers a unique opportunity for faculty
members in history and related fields to debate a prominent American history
topic with experts and colleagues.

College Media Conference
June 23-25: Baltimore, MD
This 24th annual conference is a major event for campus public relations and communications officers as well as representatives of higher education media. The event is cohosted by the Council of Independent Colleges and the American Association of State Colleges and Universities.
CIC/AALI Seminar on Academic Leadership for the 21st Century
July 12-16: Annapolis, MD
This seminar is part of a new program that helps prepare CAOs to serve as effective college presidents. The event is offered by the Council of Independent Colleges in partnership with the American Academic Leadership Institute (AALI) and the American Association of State Colleges and Universities (AASCU).
2010 Art History Seminar
July 26-30: Birmingham, AL
The first in a series of new seminars will take place at the Birmingham Museum of Art in Birmingham, AL and will concentrate on the topic of artistic workshop practices of late medieval and Renaissance Italy.
CIC/Collegiate Learning Assessment (CLA) Consortium Summer Meeting
August 1-3: Jersey City, NJ
This meeting of CLA Consortium members convenes annually, during which participants evaluate and discuss
key issues of the CLA project.

Ancient Greece in the Modern College Classroom Seminar
Aug 7-11: Washington, DC
Designed primarily for those who have not had formal training
in ancient Greek literature, this five-day seminar will offer faculty
members an opportunity to extend their knowledge of ancient sources and
develop strategies for incorporating them into their courses.
2010 Foundation Conversation
October 12: New York, NY
The 2010 Foundation Conversation is an annual meeting of dialogue for
corporate and private foundation officers and presidents of liberal arts
colleges and universities.
2010 Institute for Chief Academic Officers and Chief Financial Officers
November 6-9: Williamsburg, VA
The Institute for Chief Academic Officers is an annual meeting for CAOs
of independent colleges and universities that includes a workshop for
new CAOs. This year's event extends a special invitation to chief financial officers.
2011 Presidents Institute
January 4-7: Palm Springs, CA
The Presidents Institute is an annually held meeting for presidents of
independent colleges and universities that includes a day-and-a-half program
for new presidents.
