The Consortium for the Advancement of Private Higher Education (CAPHE) helps corporations and foundations stimulate meaningful reform in private colleges and universities for the benefit of higher education and society. CAPHE became an operating unit of CIC in 1993.

Founded by funders to strengthen the contributions to society of private colleges, CAPHE designs and administers competitive grant competitions; offers technical assistance to funders; and disseminates ideas resulting from its programs. As an operating unit of CIC, recent CAPHE administrated programs include:
